About the Chief

Police Chief Dominick BlaskoChief Dominick L. Blasko began his law enforcement career as a dispatcher in 1990 with the Village of Walden Police. In 1992 he entered the police academy as a police officer with the Town of Lloyd in Ulster County. After working as a part time police officer in Lloyd and a full time dispatcher in the Town of New Windsor, Chief Blasko was hired as a police officer with the Town of Crawford Police Department in 1993. Besides patrol, Chief Blasko has served as the DARE Officer and later established and served as the School Resource Officer for the Pine Bush Central School District. In addition to his police duties he served as President of the New York State DARE Officer’s Association and as a DARE Facilitator for the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. Blasko was promoted to Sergeant in 2004, Lieutenant in 2008 and was named the Town’s 4th Chief of Police in 2012. Chief Blasko commands a department consisting of 27 full and part time sworn police officers and 14 full and part time civilian support staff consisting of Dispatchers, Dog Control Officer and School Crossing Guards. Chief Blasko is a graduate of the Pine Bush Central School District and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Organizational Management from Manhattan College. Chief Blasko is also a graduate of the New York State Law Enforcement Executive Institute, F.B.I Mid-Atlantic Law Enforcement Executive Development and the 238th session of the F.B.I National Academy. Chief Blasko is a certified New York State General Topics Master Police Instructor and as an instructor for the Police Chief’s Association of Orange County Police Academy located in Middletown, NY. Chief Blasko has served on the executive Board of the Police Chiefs’ of Orange County since 2014 and served as president in 2019 and 2020. Chief Blasko serves on the Board of Governors for the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police and is the 1st Vice President of the Mid-Hudson Chiefs Association . He is a member of the Academy Training Advisory Board, Orange County District Attorney’s Community Advisory Board, Safe Homes of Orange County Domestic Violence Committee, International Association of Chiefs of Police, New York State Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Mid-Hudson Association of Chiefs of Police. In addition, Chief Blasko has coached several scholastic and youth sports. He has served on the executive board of the Wallkill Youth Football League and the Orange County Youth Football League.
