The Town of Crawford Police announce arrest in armed robbery
On October 31, 2020 an individual came to the Crawford Police Department to report an armed robbery that had occurred earlier that day.
The victim stated that he was at a residence on Crawford Street when the suspect struck him with and then pointed a shot gun at him. The suspect did also steal US currency and medication.
The department contacted the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and drafted a search warrant for the residence. The search warrant was presented in Crawford Town Court and signed by Justice Mark Schuh..
The Orange County Sheriffs’ Office Special Operations Group executed the search warrant at the residence on Crawford Street. They secured the residence and Crawford Officers processed the scene.
During the search of the residence the shotgun and narcotics were recovered.
Ryan Engels, 34 of Pine Bush was charged with Robbery in the First Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree, Assault 2nd, Menacing 2nd, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
Utilizing the central arraignment process, Mr. Engels was arraigned virtually by Village of Monroe Justice Schwartz. Engels was remanded to Orange County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
